Day 5: Worship Without Permission
Scripture
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
-Romans 11:29 (ESV)
Devotional
There was a time I worshipped without a platform.
No microphone. No stage. No approval.
In fact, the very people who once cheered for my voice now told me I was too emotional, too expressive, too much.
I had a choice:
Shrink back and wait for permission-or bring my worship anyway.
So I did.
Not in rebellion, but in obedience.
Not to make a point, but because He’s still worthy-whether they think I am or not.
I stood in the back row.
No spotlight, no invitation.
Hands raised. Eyes closed.
Heart open like an altar.
Because worship was never about who gave me the mic.
It was about the One who gave me breath.
That worship cost me my pride.
It cost me the illusion of needing man’s validation.
But what I got in return?
A kind of freedom that no church politics could ever grant.
Reflection
Don’t let someone who didn’t die for you
decide when or how you worship.
I’ve been there.
Overlooked.
Pushed aside.
Told to sit down, quiet down, or wait for someone else’s approval before I could lift my voice.
But here’s the truth:
God didn’t put your anointing in their hands.
He placed it in you.
The gifts He gave you?
They’re not up for debate.
The call He whispered over you?
Still stands-even if others try to gatekeep it.
You don’t need a stage.
You don’t need a title.
You don’t need permission to worship the One who called you His.
And no person, platform, or institution
gets to silence what Heaven breathed into your lungs.
Takeaway
If God placed the gift inside you,
you don’t need human approval to use it.
Worship boldly. Worship freely.
Because your praise was never meant to be managed-
It was meant to move mountains.
Prayer
Jesus,
Thank You for the gifts You’ve placed inside me.
Forgive me for the times I let others silence what You declared.
Help me worship You with boldness, not waiting for permission-
but responding to Your presence.
Let my life be a testimony that no one can cancel what You’ve called.
Amen.
Journaling Prompts
- Have you ever held back your worship because of someone else’s opinion or authority?
- What would it look like to reclaim your voice and worship in freedom?
- Who or what have you been waiting on to “allow” you to worship? What if you stopped waiting?
