If Fear Were a Person-A spoken Word
If fear were a person,
I’d look it straight in the eyes.
I’d watch it flinch at the flame in mine,
The flame it tried to smother but couldn’t.
If fear were real,
It would wear every lie like a name tag.
“Not enough.”
“Too late.”
“Who do you think you are?”
But I know who I am.
I am the one fear couldn’t kill.
The one who woke up anyway.
The one who sings when silence would be safer.
The one who writes with fire where scars used to live.
Fear should tremble
At the sound of the Christ within me.
Because I don’t run anymore—
I roar.
I am the voice it didn’t see coming.
The altar it couldn’t desecrate.
The temple it couldn’t overtake.
The breath it couldn’t steal.
If fear were a person,
I’d thank it…
For showing me who I really am.
And then I’d watch it run
At the name of Jesus
Risen inside of me.
